This area has been on the tourist trail from Victorian times and so has a long history of catering for visitors. The county borders with Wales in the west and reaches to the Malvern Hills in the east. The principal towns are Hereford, Ledbury, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye, the River Wye is the major waterway with the River Lugg traversing the north of the county before joining the Wye.
